A reminder: this contributes to Europe's #deindustrialization and makes it harder for European economies to support taking a greater share of the overall defense burden.

Colour me still sceptical of the idea of an European Security Council, but the emerging Wider Europe of Security bringing together the EU, Canada, UK, Norway and Ukraine would be an important step forward:

La Commission européenne s'amuse un peu :

Pour interdire l'accès des mineurs de 15 ans aux réseaux sociaux, elle propose un... « EU KIDS ACT ».

Acronyme de « Keeping Internet Digital Spaces Accountable and Trustworthy » (Evidemment, ça marche moins bien si c'est traduit en français...)

Today is International Day of Democracy.

It has been a challenging year for democracy worldwide which is in decline in many places (see fx V-Dem data).

Democratisation and building strong and resilient democracies is a key challenge of our times.

The EU Commission wants to push its #EUInc proposal through decision-making at record speed

But when it comes to #transparency about meetings with #lobbyists about this controversial law, the Commission uses delay tactics 🐌🐢🤔

Almost half of Europeans surveyed say the EU has more influence over their country’s future than their own national government.

That is a genuinely striking development and one that could fundamentally change how Europeans think about EU democracy.
