If we held people personally and criminally liable for the "autonomous" actions of the AI systems they create and deploy, I bet the risky behavior would evaporate overnight.

Given what they actually do, I have trouble believing that they actually want to prevent said apocalypse
It is kind of amazing what a huge failure his "prevent the AI apocalypse" project has been at accomplishing anything that is supposed to be a goal

I’m pretty sure they are crazy too but not in the “future AI god will torture us way” but more the “my army of AI slaves will replace you punny humans way”. My view is they play up the risk stuff in a more insincere reason to motivate people funding them to give them more cash.
