Some of the “left-wing” responses to this great video and initiative are so incredibly stupid — and some stupid as well as antisemitic. 🤯

wow, the replies to and QTs of this are... really something. [not laudatory]

The brigades for whom "anti-Zionism should not be equated to anti-Semitism" just immediately becomes "because Zionism is bad, anti-Semitism is good" are out in force on this one.

Working on this reported essay, just published, increasingly took over my life for the last two months. PEN America did a terrible disservice with its sloppy reporting about American Jews and Israelis in publishing in July. Josh Lambert and I tried to do better. jewishcurrents.org/what-pen-ame...

The Trump admin's offer of provisional protection for American Jews is premised upon accepting their definition of Jewish identity as solely centered around the state of Israel. Dissent from that definition of Jewishness, and the state will be mobilized against you. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/n...
A Hasidic Jew Protested Against an Israeli Flag. He May Be Deported. (Gift Article)
Yehonatan Ovadia, who opposed the mounting of the flag in a small New York town, belongs to a Hasidic branch that is anti-Zionist. He is now in ICE custody.

Yes, the push to adopt the IHRA's definition of anti-semitism has obviously backfired.

It defines "drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis" as anti-semitism. Therefore, calling Gaza "genocide" is anti-semitism.

Our governments & political 'leaders' are actively choosing to condemn us, to put obscene profits for big business before the safety of all Australians, people & all life we share Earth with.

Academics have a particular responsibility to speak out against antisemitism now because it gained a foothold in our society in recent years by first gaining a foothold on some campuses. Because too many academics didn't speak out. And it's metastasized. Antisemitism is evil.
Academics who refuse to denounce antisemitism because they're afraid they won't get invited to the cool kids table are playing a role in the decline of our democracy. You can't have a functioning liberal democracy when a group is targeted bc of its religion or its identity. People need to speak out.

“…the administration is using allegations of discrimination—including antisemitism—as a pretext for coercive strategies that are plainly unlawful and unconstitutional, and that undermine both civil rights–including the civil rights of Jewish Americans—and our constitutional democracy.”
