The picture shows the monumental stage set at the Bregenz Festival for the opera *La traviata*. Key motifs and structure: The shattered giant mirror: The visual centre is formed by a gigantic, asymmetrical surface modelled on a circular, shattered mirror. The centre of the impact: a low-lying fixed point in the left-hand third forms the visual centre, from which deep cracks and fracture lines radiate outwards in a star-like pattern. The shards: Large, wedge-shaped fragments protrude in the upper section, whilst smaller shards pile up chaotically on top of one another in the foreground. Colour scheme: The surfaces shimmer in cool, light grey to whitish tones. The edges are set off in contrasting dark and greenish tones to imitate the thickness of real glass. Background and symbolism The metaphor: The seemingly imploding mirror, designed by Paolo Fantin, symbolises the inner turmoil and the fragile, illusory world of the main character, Violetta Valéry. The setting: The set stands on the world’s largest floating stage on Lake Constance, with the real sky and the surrounding water providing a natural contrast to the harsh geometry of the structure.

Die #Dürre ist nach wie vor zu spüren, zB am Pegel des Bodensees in #Bregenz.

258 cm Ende September - das gabs noch nie in den letzten 160 Jahren. Aug das Mittel (362 cm) fehlt also über ein Meter.

Mit 20 Grad noch immer badetauglich …

Der #Bodensee hat derzeit extrem wenig Wasser.

Seit 1864 (!) wird in #Bregenz schon gemessen. Zu dieser Jahreszeit war der Pegel noch nie so tief.

Die Ursachen:
- sehr wenig Niederschlag in diesem Jahr
- kaum Schmelzwasser aus den Alpen (Rhein)
