This is partly because this family group of foxes are habituated, or very used, to the company of people, but also because I am lying on the ground using a telephoto lens so I am appearing to be unthreatening and not entering her personal space.

Walking along the canal towards Brindley Place, the towpath runs alongside a patterned brick wall. The low morning sun casts long shadows from the lamppost across its surface. I took this photograph from the opposite side of the canal, a location I often revisit to capture this interplay of light and shadow. A pedestrian entered the scene at just the right moment, adding a human element to the composition. The warm tones of the wall give the impression of reflecting the early sunlight.

This photo was taken at twilight on the Wales Coast Path near Gwbert in Ceredigion on 15 September 2025. It was so windy and stormy that it was very hard to stay upright. Waves are crashing over a cliff in the foreground, and it felt like they were trying to reach the stunning pink cloud which appeared to be suspended in the sky.

The forecast said fog. There was a little on and off, but I was just loving the calmness of the forth. Plus, I got a wee train over the bridge, too, so that made me happy. The sun lighting up the sky with the help of the low fog added the final piece.

I was captivated and fixated by a little patch of sunlight on a bit of the stream where there was some movement and slight waves. The way light reflects on water is just magical!

There’s been a lot of dramatic skies around this last week. Balancing on the sea wall at St Monans in a storm probably wasn’t the best idea but I told the diners at nearby East Pier Smokehouse that if I fell in to grab the camera as it’s worth a lot more than me.
