#1MHz
Radio hams - "Hertz" was a man's name. It is not a plural of anything. 1MHz is 1 mega Hertz. Not 1 mega Hert.

#C64 #Delphian progress: modified my own 3D model editor to output files for the C64, so now I have a spaceship in game.🙂Lots of changes to the 3D engine to support polygon types: points, lines, triangles, quads, and pentagons. Solid polygons might be playable on a 1Mhz C64...🤔

Been messing about with some C64 maths code for a possible version of Delphian. At 1Mhz on my C64U it's a bit slow, but probably playable for what I need once I add interrupt driven controls.

So Delphian C64U running at 32Mhz... Runs a lot slower at 1Mhz, but the idea would be graphical settings to let the player decide between more detail and slower speed, or less detail and more speed.

I do feel that any polygon 3D on a 1Mhz C64 will be a bit slow, but I'll give it a go and see if it's playable. Could use wire frame on 1mhz, and filled polygons on a C64U running at higher cpu speed. Would also give player graphical options to choose what they desire.

#C64 #Delphian progress: here's a little WIP video clip showing a bit of walking around, the WIP galaxy chart, and of course a bit of flying through space with my new circle draw and some space debris.🙂All this is on a stock 1Mhz C64. More to come...

After a bit of optimising (screaming at screen when it wasn't working, overjoyed when it finally was), here's WIP C64 Delphian running on a stock 1Mhz C64.😀 It's around 2-3 times faster than it was, and there's still more I can do... Should be pretty zippy on a C64U at 64Mhz, so will try later.🙂

Nothing to worry about you still got 1mhz in reserve ☝️

lol is the ai a Nintendo hater? (The original game ran on an 8-bit processor running at 1Mhz)

I've pulled out every trick I know, and learned a couple new ones, so it feels a bit smoother now.

Video recorded from C64 Ultimate at 1MHz CPU (PAL).

Ten years before Visual Studio was released, Berkeley Softworks released geoProgrammer, a graphical IDE, with features such as being able to step through the execution of an application - on a 1MHZ processor with 64K ram.
Write C64 GEOS applications with geoProgrammer in 6502 assembly language.

when I say "built a gizmo" what I actually mean is "horifically abused the DMA engine of an ESP32 to run its onboard audio DACs at a 1MHz+ sample rate." No external components were involved!

That was a fun project.

So how did Amstrad come to dominate the French market . The mess on the left with 8 colours, a 1MHz 6809 and 1 channel sound for 239 Francs or a 464 with green screen for 299 Francs (and soon 239F)? Hmmm.

Woop-de-diddly-do-daa!
Polyphonic pitch bend on the SID.
So, my midi stream isn't buffered, which was a worry even at 8mhz, but that's 21 16bit calcs, 6 register sets (which have to be done at a 1mhz equivalent) and all the gubbins inbetween without skipping a beat 😍

I was a bit sidetracked (ok, obsessed) with improving the accuracy of my Acorn Electron emulator. Compared with a real Electron of course. My tests show that the CPU now correctly switches between 0, 1 and 2MHz controlled by the ULA. Including cycle stretches when slowing down from 2MHz to 1MHz

Overall the speed improvements aren’t too bad.

They don’t quite reach the speed of the #BBCMicro shown here, as screen memory and zero page are still accessed at 1MHz, so there's a limit to what's possible.

But hopefully it’s enough to support Thargoids, suns, planetary details and more! (4/4)
