The 3dfx Voodoo wasn’t the first 3D card, or the most complete. It was the first that made games feel smooth. Four years later, Nvidia bought what was left of the company. What went wrong? #Voodoo #Gaming playstationcouch.com/post.php?id=...

Orchid Righteous 3D - The Monster Slayer!

It's unusual to see an ad for a late 90s 3D graphics cards that wasn't leaning on abstract or evocative Bryce3D vibe renders.

The Righteous 3D was Orchid's licensed version of the 3DFX Voodoo, and had mechanical relays that clicked when it fired up.

I wish there was a way to play the Special Edition's 3DFX mode with the cockpit camera and the PS1 cockpit parallaxing.

The console versions of NfS I & II have this visceral feeling like you're getting jostled around in a diorama of real-life pictures of the car from inside
yall should go play need for speed II that shit is good

;w; My N64 is an RGB NTSC-J and yeah, it's a sharper image, but even that can't help all that much with the blurriness. But I've learned over the last year to roll with it and appreciate the N64 as a '3DFX graphics look console.

Same with how the OG Xbox has that certain early 2000s Geforce vibe.
My daughter came out while I was fixing some N64 stuff and wanted to play Castlevania. Her first question after I showed her how to hold the controller was "how do you make it not blurry?"

The story from the wild West of the 90s into D3D & Xbox is a long one. Devs demanded something like DirectX exist because having a dozen different rendering APIs out there was never a sustainable situation; 3Dfx held first mover advantage because their arcade experience had them committed to 60fps.

I miss the mid to late 90's, we seemed to have more choice in a way back then.

Choice of GPU's, 3dfx, rendition, virge3d, STB, Matrox, ATI, Nvidia, Powervr.

And then consoles lol. And then the internet was just more cherished back then, wasn't so loud.
