#440MHz
I thought the next ISS pass was at 19 but it was at 18 🙃

I made an antenna upgrade, but I won't be able to test it until tomorrow.

The new antenna didn't have a reflector, so I added one made of measuring tape, tuned to 440MHz.

So those CubeSats can be used for amateur (ham) radio? Aim a Yagi antenna somewhere in their parabola, fire off a voice transmission in UHF (440MHz, 70cm), get a response back in VHF (144MHz, 2 meters)?

Ham Radio Users Clash With Starlink Rival AST SpaceMobile Over Spectrum Use
AST wants to use the 430 to 440MHz band for a satellite-to-phone service. Ham radio enthusiasts say the company's plan is vague and could interfere with their slim slice of spectrum.

Basically my comment to FCC filing 25-201, with regard to a secondary spectrum allocation on the 430-440MHz band (you have until 2025-07-21 if you wish to do it too: www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings...)

You could buy a 2m/440mhz HT for under $25 on temu before tariffs

You just got a 440Mhz SWR meter and want to add a jumper between it and your radio. You pull out three from your coax stash.

Which one should you use?

NanoVNA: At 440MHz, one has 0.5dB of loss, one 1.0dB of loss, and one a whopping 1.5dB of loss!

Which do you think is which?

If you wanna do #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio at the same while doing #WarDrive things you need to filter out the low 2m/70cm (140/440mhz) freq from blowing up the WarDrive rig. #WiFi #Wigle #Yaesu #2m #70cm

The Yaesu #FTM500 is 50W of TX power.

It's still a risk.

But we shall see how it all does.

@isleofmandan 380-430 MTH800s can certainly be expanded out to 380-440MHz (as can MTP850, etc). Happy to help if you do get around to it :)

In the USA the FCC has authorized AST-SpaceMobile to launch its full constellation of 248 large satellites that includes 430-440MHz for emergency telemetry and control when not over the United States. This is despite there being no such frequency allocation. However, the FCC permitted the use of the frequencies using Article 4.4 of the ITU […] Go to Source

You know, it's also easy to forget how slow a 440MHz single core system is. Certainly not everything was better in the past...

CORRECTION: It is a competitor to StarLink - AST - that wants to use ham radio frequencies on 70cm (440MHz)

We apologise for the error.

Full report soon.

A check with the spectrum analyzer confirms this. The faulty one is about 10kHz low on each channel compared with the others. Doesn't sound like much at 446MHz but it matters for narrowband FM. /3
