From a trip down to my home state of Louisiana last year. These guys were everywhere and this one posed nicely.

Can I just say I love the Nikon 500PF lens....

Ring-billed gull in flight, Burke, Virginia, USA, 28FEB2026. #Nikon #Z8 with 500PF lens. This is an extreme crop, but all I've done is some minor adjustments in LrC + a little sharpening in Topaz. The light was very good. First time I've seen the red around the eyes and the red 'lips'. #birds
Head-on view of a ring-billed gull in flight. The eyes are very clear and appear to be looking directly at the photographer. The gull's yellow bill with its characteristic black ring are also very clear and prominent.

Here's a quick pop of color in your feed. An eastern bluebird, photographed today. I like how the bright blue, reddish brown, and white of the bird are set off by the dark olive background. The Nikkor 500PF lebs produces a nice bokeh IMO. Herndon, Virginia, USA 13APR2025 #birds #Nikon #NikoNZ8
An eastern bluebird is perched on a nesting box against a diffused mottled olive green background. The head and back are bright blue, the chest reddish brown, and the belly is white. The bird is perched facing to the right but with its head turned aside to the left. The bright light shows a highlight in the black pupil of the eye and the shininess of the dark beak.
