When I started with electronics as a very young kid the first book I was bought in 1981 (50 pence well spent!) used wood and screws for constructing circuits. This tatty book is so responsible for so much... leading to an electronics degree, industrial system designing and some awards! 😆

I had some AC128's like that with the transistor casings embedded in massive aluminium heatsinks. Great for fuzz pedals to keep the amount of distortion steady in hot venues.

modified DIY kit from China some years ago. Used transistor sockets an RCA 2N404A. The kit came with fake AC128 transistors, the leakage high and Hfe low, would not work properly. Mt cat Lucky curious as usual.

MASON CITY — The North Iowa Area Community College Board of Directors is scheduled to meet Thursday, June 18, 2026, with athletic facilities, college property, a beverage agreement, personnel items and the president’s contract among the items on the agenda. The board will begin with a 5:00 p.m. workshop in AC128 on the NIACC campus, 500 College Drive in Mason City. The workshop agenda includes an Academic Affairs Board Report.
