My jaw actually dropped when i saw this announcement today - Nnedi @nnedi.bsky.social Okorafor is coming to the Renton branch of the Kong County Library - Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30!!!

Africanfutururism (and africanjujuism) are each one word.

I really don’t know why this is so difficult for people.
Lastly, africanfuturism is spelled as one word (not two, no hyphen and the "f" is not capitalized. It is one word so that the concepts of Africa and futurism cannot be separated (or replaced with something else) because they both blend to create something new just like the word "Naijamerican"). As one word, it is one thing and no one can change the subject without starting a different conversation. Like the terms "science fiction" and "fantasy", africanfuturism is a neutral word, therefore it is not capitalized.

Got my copy of Zufan in the mail yesterday from @etancomics.bsky.social. It's "an Africanfuturism graphic novel depicting the 1896 Italian invasion of Ethiopia through Sci-fi." I love that it was made by an all-African creative team! About 1/4 in and the writing + art is amazing 🔥
