Stargate's a great series, I still love them all, but you can't really separate it from the US Airforce. One of the things that make it stand out from other sci-fi series is the grounded (ish) military aspects. How they handle that will be the big question, and I doubt they'll do it well.

As with the other proposed Stargate show that didn't get made, my main worry is what a series focusing on the US military (Airforce in this case) will look like today. Back in 1997 it was pretending they were Starfleet, nowadays they aren't doing that. They're doing Call of Duty, not Star Trek.
