A shipwreck near Aberlady. Rumour has the locals nabbed all the whisky.

Couldn't find the needle in a haystack that was the Aberlady Lapland Bunting today.

Did have my first Whooper Swan (10) and Golden Plover (500+) of the autumn. As well as 2 Greenshank and a Pale-bellied Brent Goose.

Aberlady Bay (Scotland) was know as Lofda's nose a point of land where Vikings made camp. Medieval Luffness Castle built on this site took its name from Lofda the (allegedly 7 ft) 'Viking' buried under the West end tower of the Castle along with another smaller Viking Warrior.

There appears to be three leucistic individuals with the Barnacles past/in Northumberland yesterday. I think your bird looks different to the Aberlady bird (pictured) from a couple of years ago?

One of two midget submarines, or XT-Craft, whose remains can still be seen at low tide in Aberlady Bay in East Lothian. They were moored here in 1946 and used as training targets by locally-based RAF aircraft. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Not the best of pics in the half-light early this morning but this Glossy Ibis at Aberlady is just my third in Lothian and is a first for the reserve. The way things are going I can’t imagine it will be long before both counts increase. @birdinglothian.bsky.social
