No, this brand of AI glasses is definitely not being marketed as a student cheating device…

AI can help you brainstorm or organize, but it cannot replace source-checking. Open the original paper, verify the claim and citation, and disclose AI use when your institution requires it. #AcademicIntegrity

What if Using AI Wasn't Cheating?
Today Dean talks to University of Calgary professor Dr. Sarah Eaton about academic integrity in the age of generative AI, moving beyond a simple cheating/not-cheating frame toward “post-plagiarism,” inspired by plagiarism scholar Rebecca Moore Howard’s “Don’t Police, Just Teach” approach and Eaton’s early awareness of GPT-2 in 2020. They discuss contract cheating as a pre-ChatGPT concern, including K–12 marketing to parents, and emphasize prevention through relationships, open conversations, formative assessment, and supportive accountability despite grade-driven incentives. Eaton critiques AI moral panics and notes emerging issues like AI agents and AI glasses, arguing bans can conflict with accessibility needs. She questions the value of AI disclosure given pervasive AI in tools like grammar checkers and Google, critiques detection-tool “arms race” dynamics, and highlights ethical concerns (environment, bias, labor, copyright) alongside AI’s potential benefits for equity and inclusion. 00:00 AI Disclosure Doubts 01:12 Meet Dr Sarah Eaton 04:17 Post Plagiarism Origins 06:21 AI On The Radar 07:39 Contract Cheating Era 09:03 K12 Essay Mill Marketing 10:41 Teaching Integrity Not Fear 14:16 Prevention And Support 16:03 Grades And Incentives 23:11 Tech Panics And Wearables 25:22 AI Literacy Gaps 26:19 Ethics And Resistance 28:22 Why We Must Engage 31:03 Deepfakes And Duty 32:57 Assessment In Real Time 37:03 Disclosure Debate 42:44 Detection Arms Race 45:23 Accessibility And Equity 47:35 Wrap Up And Recommendations

From Academic Integrity to Professional Formation in Generative AI–Supported Nursing Education: Integrative Review
Background: The rapid integration of generative AI (GenAI) into #nursing education has prompted widespread concern about academic integrity and assessment validity. However, this dominant discourse may obscure a more fundamental challenge: preparing #nursing students for clinical practice environments where AI already mediates triage, diagnostics, documentation, and clinical decision-making. Objective: This integrative review examines how GenAI is conceptualized within the #nursing education literature and investigates the extent to which current discourse addresses professional formation rather than academic compliance. Methods: Following Whittemore and Knafl’s integrative review methodology, a systematic search of PubMed, Google Scholar, and SciSpace (Typeset) was conducted for literature published between January 2022 and February 2026. Two reviewers independently screened 456 records, with 119 papers meeting the inclusion criteria. The methodological quality of empirical studies was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Corpus-level descriptive mapping quantified dominant themes and conceptual patterns, while an interpretive synthesis examined how GenAI was framed and the extent to which professional formation elements, including identity, moral agency, and clinical judgment, were addressed. Results: Of the 119 unique studies analyzed, 84% (n=100) predominantly framed GenAI as a content-generation tool and academic integrity threat. Only 35.3% (n=42) conceptualized AI as a pedagogical tool, and a critical gap was identified in professional formation: identity formation was addressed in only 10% (n=12) of papers and moral agency in just 5% (n=6). Explicit acknowledgment that AI already routinely mediates frontline clinical decisions (eg, sepsis alerts and fall risk algorithms) in current practice settings was notably absent. The discourse emphasizes governance and faculty literacy, but sustained curricula addressing #nurse identity in AI-mediated care remain underdeveloped. Conclusions: Current #nursing education discourse predominantly frames AI as a writing tool and an academic integrity concern, failing to prepare students for the algorithmic practice environments they will inhabit. Nursing education must reframe AI as a professional formation issue, explicitly addressing how algorithms reshape clinical judgment, moral agency, and professional identity.
