Umoupen is probably going to serve me well for 2D games especially, since it's similar to Flash... just based on Lua instead of ActionScript. I did want to make something 3D originally, but I kinda don't care anymore... =w=

Ain't that easy. My brain has a very hard time wrapping itself around code. I struggled to learn actionscript and struggle even more with js and c#. Making my own tools... I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Wish I still had some of my old Flash projects, those were my first baby steps into interactivity. One of the first things I did was make a flocking system with birds that mouse followed, I was hooked - Flash was like magic ❤️ Actionscript ftw! Security is a lie these days, so bring it all back!

Wish I still had some of my old Flash projects, those were my first baby steps into interactivity. One of the first things I did was make a flocking system with birds that mouse followed, I was hooked - Flash was like magic ❤️ Actionscript ftw! Security is a lie these days, so bring it all back!
the C/Java/ActionScript/C++ I came from but it was an adjustment. I'm fully team duck-typing now but it took a couple years to get comfortable. Mind you, I'm Ruby lang NOT Rails. Didn't like Rails but I don't build portals. 🤷

ActionScript 3 making a comeback in 2026 would be quite the plot twist. lol. At this rate, somebody's going to suggest we all return to writing games in BASIC.

This just reminded me of an altercation I had with a colleague ~15-20 years ago. Not on a low level project but in Flex/ActionScript. We literally argued about the implementation of a loop - and it’s just now clicked why our viewpoints differed and why I couldn’t grok how he couldn’t see his error.

We used to do that in Flash/Actionscript. I mean it wasn't the most basic way to render sprites (the basic way was to put the image inside a MovieClip, the base object), but it was the most efficient for performance.
I think something equivalent is done in javascript/HTML5.

yeah WORD, i kinda wanna learn actionscript (the main coding language they were using) so i can mod it myself, since i cloned the repo i have the source code now on my pc and can modify it on my own terms, and you can host them pirvately for ur own use like minecraft servers too, so itd just be me
