Forests in the Asian & American Tropics are rich in epiphytic #Ericaceae. These are shrubs that perch on trees, along with orchids, ferns, bromeliads, etc. This is Agapetes serpens (in cultivation at Temperate House at Kew Gardens), a species from the Himalayas. #epiphyte #Botany #PlantScience 🌾🧪

Thank you, yes it is. Kew Gardens does a Festival of orchids and theme it to a Country. This year Peru, last Year, Madagascar (below) To post, it’s easier just to put my photos into the Kew orchids, the Agapetes Serpens come under the flower and nature hashtag. I posted a Bromeliad in another post 😉

Great photos! But.. at the risk of being a total nerd, the red in the bottom left is actually an epiphytic blueberry relative, Agapetes something. Not an orchid, but pretty awesome nonetheless.

Himalayan Lantern (Agapetes “Ludgvan Cross”) blossoms.

This plant is actually a member of the blueberry family, that grows in Tibet.
