The reasons outlined include a lack of access to dialysis, reliable return transport to Darwin, proximity to aged care, disability services and the Darwin and Palmerston hospitals "as dialysis patients are unfortunately frequent flyers to acute care".

I don’t think his piece was about that but about the fact he & his wife don’t want to or need to move into a retirement village, which is somewhat different to an aged care facility. They may well have plans for that should the need arise.

This! My 76 yo mother was caring (at home) for 78 yo husband (Parkinsons, dementia) and her 99 yo mother (just old) and respite care was nigh on impossible to source. And you certainly couldn't plan it in advance! The aged and their families need vastly more support to stay home! #auspol #agedcare
