Finally read #WolfHall by #HilaryMantel and I really enjoyed it. I love a bit of #Tudor crazy but reading it from #Cromwells perspective was a great way to throw a different light on a story we know well.
Keeping my Tudor renaissance and started #TheSixWivesOfHenryVIII by #AlisonWeir next….

“I try to bring history to life by giving it context; making it vivid within its own moral and social framework. Making history readable doesn't mean making it inaccurate.”

Finally finished this. Life has been getting in the way. A great history as soap opera; long on gossipy detail and character, shorter on the wide angle analysis than perhaps I would have preferred. Cracking read though. #Booksof2026 No2. #AlisonWeir #WarsoftheRoses

Happy publication day to Alison Weir for her wonderful novel on Cardinal Wolsey. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy - it’s her best novel yet (and all her novels are good!). Sorry I couldn’t make it to today’s launch! #alisonweir #thecardinal #cardinalwolsey #tudor #tudors

Providing readers with a gloriously human account of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, Alison Weir’s The Cardinal is a triumph. Through Weir’s evocative prose we are taken into Wolsey’s world, with his inevitable fall as heartbreaking as his rise was exhilarating
