“amoebae leave no fossils. They haven’t any bones. (No teeth, no belt buckles, no wedding rings.) It is impossible, therefore, to determine how long amoebae have been on Earth.” Tom Robbin’s eccentric novel Even Cowgirls Get the Blues was first published on this date in 1976 by Houghton Mifflin.

I haven’t been very active here, but I’m migrating over! Speaking of migration, my lab studies how amoebae migrate through different environments!

Many amoebae incorporate diatoms in their shells, but Cylindrifflugia bacillariarum is the master. Third and fourth pics are close views of the glue that holds it all together. #ProtistsonSky #Amoebae #Peatlands

I broke some shells of Galeripora artocrea, to look at their algal hostages...and accidentally created Pac-Man amoebae. #amoebae #peatlands #ProtistsOnSky

brain eating amoeba not happy about a documentary on brain eating amoebae. 🤷
While Musk has attacked the film as both a “hit piece” and a “psy op,” it’s been critically well-received thus far.
We have a trailer for Musk documentary Elon called a "hit piece"
Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney focuses on the world's wealthiest man.

Explain your username

It’s from the start of a book.

“Amoebae leave no fossils. They haven’t any bones.… One thing is certain, however: because amoebae reproduce by division, endlessly, passing everything on yet giving up nothing, the first amoebae that ever lived is still alive.”
Back in the early 00s I had a zombie thing going on (blame Shaun of the Dead). Any proper spelling was already gone so I went 1337, as was the style at the time. This spelling is older than my marriage and children.

An amoeba with teeth. When building its shell, Netzelia corona selects sharp grains of quartz and positions them around its aperture with the tips pointing inward. I took a few closeups, yesterday. #ProtistsonSky #amoebae #peatlands #MEvoSky
