As a scientist im apalled. The actual point is: Did he plagiarize! In his case its just a novel and some silly prize. But right now academia, journals are getting flooded with ai stuff. People generate papers to pass ai and anti-ai measures. I hope he has done it on purpose to point to the problem.

Like, the issues with this tech are too many to list and really well documented: the secret human labour behind it all, security concerns, plagiarism, negative effects on learning and education. It is bizarre at this stage to pretend that being anti-ai is some kind of precious bluesky-based cult.

The humor doesn’t work for everybody, the LitRPGness of it can be a slog especially in the first book. But at its core it is an anti-AI, anti-colonialist, anti-billionaire, anti-fascist story wrapped in goofy, silly nonsense. If you have the spoons it’s worth a read at least for the first book.

If Democrats can't glom on to this anti-AI sentiment they're fucking hopeless. Republicans are all in on gobbling up the AI cash and Democrats need to turn that into a weakness and go on the attack but some of them are afraid of the money being spent against them. Grow a spine and follow voters.
