#Aphasia
🖤 I've heard plenty of people talk about "fucking someone until they forget how to talk," but I feel like I'm the only one who's really innovating on the concept.

They should have informed readers about the proper names for Trump’s symptoms of dementia — aphasia, perseveration, etc. — instead it sounds like he’s a grumpy old coot getting a bit worse with age

Last fall, my mom started to seriously lose her mind and the progression was fast. Tested for UTI. No UTI. All symptoms of dementia. Agitation, loss of executive function, serious aphasia, wandering, fantasies/illusions, sundowning. The works. Low, low score on the test the president keeps failing.

More and more of Trump’s speeches have devolved into mere glossolalia (aka, grunts, groans, belches, wheezes and episodes of gurgling aphasia), interpreted by the most devoted members of his cult as him speaking in the Divine Tongue. Most will see it as evidence of a mind unraveling in real time.

More hecklers more aphasia more things to sink Kansas

I mean, yeah, night and day. Back to what she was last year. Still mild impairment but shes 92. Aphasia was almost gone. Executive function returned to, well, not 100% but mostly back. No more wandering. Now of course she was so much better than everyone else in memory care that she is frustrated.

Aphasia is a huge specialty for me as an SLP. Are you getting information otherwise? I could bury you lol

TIL about silent migraines and transient aphasia so here’s a PSA.

For about half an hour I thought I was having a stoke or something.

Flashing lights and bits of my field of view “missing” (which me made think migraine), but there was NO headache. Then I was having trouble remembering words.

Is this available to read?

I have a relative with aphasia possibly due to a brain tumor, so I'm interested in that sort of thing.

We’re up to the episode where O’Brien has aphasia and I cannot emphasize enough how much this is just my basic life experience. If everyone around me started talking in mild gibberish i would assume it was my audio processing issues and ask for clarification and not realize it was a problem lol

Aphasia, the inability to pronounce familiar words, is a symptom of dementia.

You may be witnessing a moment of aphasia. People who have had a stroke often mix up their pronouns unintentionally. It’s common.

This happened with my husband two years ago. The only phrase he could make come out properly was "I don't know what's happening." Did all kinds of scans and whatnot and was totally fine. Brain just kinda hiccuped. May your husband's aphasia also be a blip.

👉Clinically, this is jargon aphasia or logorrhea. It happens when the brain's language center is damaged, causing continuous, fluent speech that follows normal speech patterns but consists of unrecognizable or meaningless words (word salad). The speaker is usually unaware it sounds nonsensical.
