#AppImages
Imagine the same for desktop apps too, cue the devs not shipping Linux support for reasons relating to limited userbase or the horrors of packaging for distros rather than using Snaps, Flatpaks and/or AppImages

I absolutely detest AppImages, but in exactly two cases I don't have a choice and I have been loathing updates ever since.

Enter Gesr Lever https://gearlever.mijorus.it/ and life becomes bareable again.

Grateful and thankful for this great App!

Big agree. AppImages are the absolute worst choice for Linux. Even on regular distros, it's a hassle dealing with them because they don't update with system updates, they require the user to manually add a desktop entry, they don't follow conventional install paths. Gross.

Seven Nine Point Labs apps now run on any Linux. Repokase, Jubako, Dogear, omaforge, Rune, Bahá'í Reader and Hyprfall each ship an AppImage that adds itself to your app menu with proper icons. Omarchy is still home.

and only having access to what's in your particular OS's repos and what you can set up DIY is a big issue so for me that lack of flatpaks & appimages is a dealbreaker for desktop use and the lack of docker is a dealbreaker for server use.
