The more I think about this, the more I'm wondering, "Is this to stop people using alternative FPGA cores"? Like if you wanted your C64U to suddenly work like a ZX Spectrum or anything else.
Perhaps they gone full corpo and a C64U acting as something else is no bueno to them?

Yeah, not cool. The C64 was all about people tinkering and experimenting and locking this down like an iPhone is the wrong move bud.

This is absolutely necessary. Assembly64 is a legal liability minefield.

Got my new Ultimate-II WiFi from Gideon’s Logic plugged in, and few moments later was downloading games and demos with Assembly64. Totally impressive, and highly recommended! #c64

Upgraded my Ultimate64 to the new v3.11 firmware which enables Wi-Fi.
Just like that, we are able to browse the Assembly64 database, download disk images and such, right from the U64 menu. Incredible!

Put it in NTSC mode and watch some demos. Check out an NTSC demo group called Shade. You can find there stuff in assembly64.

However! the assembly64 app can detect the c64u as an ultimate and control/upload directly to it, so i sent the guy a $10 donation and the problem with shortly be resolved for me

I love some of the U64 functionality. Using assembly64 over network to launch games and sids, plugging my wireless pc keyboard into it and remotely controlling it. Even got a silicon cover for the keyboard and a sticker set for the C64 keys. Good stuff.
