Me hearties, have ye considered avastin’?
My doc just called. My scan looked good! He didn’t see anything, and the lesion clears up, so now I’m just in maintenance mode with Avastin every three weeks!!

Fantastic oncology appointment this morning! As usual, my doc already had a plan ready for me and it was pretty much what I expected. I’ll be switching to Doxil, another chemotherapy, supplemented with Avastin, a “monoclonal antibody” that helps starve tumors of their blood supply. 💪

Hmm... Se on muuten syöpälääke se Avastin, jota silmiini (lasiaisinjektio) neljän viikon välein pistetään. Ei onneksi kalleimmasta päästä noita lääkkeitä, mutta pieninkin eli 4 ml:n pullo maksaa apteekissa liki 500 euroa.

Tätä uskalsin toivoa.

Silmälääkäri oli tänä aamuna ehtinyt katsoa kolmen viikon takaisten tutkimusten tulokset. Näön huononeminen on saatu pysäytettyä ainakin toistaiseksi

No bad reaction to my new #chem drug (avastin) so far.🤞 And the irinotecan which previously made my feet cramp is doing that much less. . . .

Why am I so damn tired? My last chemo was March 6. I only had Avastin on March 27. But a week after the Avastin, I had what I’d call a chemo crash, and I’ve mostly felt exhausted ever since.

I’ve also spent the last three days sleeping or near-sleeping. This is a bit worrying, because my last infusion wasn’t chemo - it was just Avastin. Hopefully it’s just my body dealing with the last of the chemo; and my next infusion (only Avastin) won’t knock me on my ass again.

Avastin olisi tullut Varhalle halvemmaksi, joten sillä mentiin ensimmäiset puoli vuotta. Eylean vahvempi versio on jo huomattavasti tyyriimpi, mutta toisaalta: olenhan minä maksanut veroja ja maksan edelleen, ja eiköhän tuo omaishoitajuuskin jotain yhteiskunnalle säästä 😉

I’m still exhausted, six weeks after my last chemo and three weeks after Avastin. I’m sleeping 10+ hours most nights, though I have trouble actually falling asleep, and I’m exhausted all day.
I go for more Avastin today, so I’m going to ask my docs if this is normal. (It seems to be, but still.)

I feel fantastic, but a little intimidated. Starting in late Jan, I’ll have 3-4 rounds of chemo, followed by 15 months of Avastin. That’s… a lot!
