Tonight’s rewatch is the EXTENDED version of BOTFA - because that’s the only version that exists.
Cos it’s the one that put back in all the Dwarf footage that WB insisted be cut out of the theatrical version - cos they thought no one would care about the Dwarves.

I've literally been screaming about how fucking insanely bad the Hobbit movies, particularly BOTFA, are since 2014. BOTFA made me never want a single other iteration of the LOTR IP to ever be made, and subsequent LOTR stuff has only proven my point

I rewatched the first hobbit movie last night and i am unfortunately a bug attracted to light when it comes to bagginshield edits but like i physically cannot look at anything post botfa because i start feeling violently ill but that hasn't stopped me because I'm bawling my eyes out i think I need

I'm sure, like everything, these films will get revisionism, not entirely without argument. Beautifully filmed, perfectly cast and scored, the first film is a lot of fun, lots of great isolated moments... but you can see Jackson lose the will to live in real time. BOTFA insists upon itself.

They weren't. It felt like Jackson was trying to recapture the high of the original trilogy, and it just fell flat. BOTFA was the worst of them. It was just so drawn out. If all the extra stuff was cut out and BOTFA condensed so it was only 2 movies instead of 3, it would have been better.
