Are we small,
A hurry of inconsequence,
Or do we sometimes shine,
Remnants of stars,
Stranded,
Forlorn and scattered,
Grey shapes beneath the blue.
Leaves that have fallen,
Now staring up at the sky.

the earth sang
through the eyes of the sky
of honeyed dawn
mellifluously
caught
in strings
of
a
thrush’s throat

"Through the Eyes of the Sky"
Eyes that endlessly rain tears,
He sees what they've done to her,
Body battered, abuse of years,
Poisoned, scorched, burned further,
Her canopies of rooftop trees,
Largest whales, smallest fleas,
All sullied, coated in madness,
Eyes of sky know only sadness. #BSPP23

Two very different poems. I didn't find the first pessimistic. First drafts can be closer to the edge of an abyss and thus hold more truth. May i ask is #BSPP23 a writing prompt? Not that i need anymore...

Yesterday evening, I wrote a poem for #BSPP23 "through the eyes of the sky". Reading it back, I found it a bit too pessimistic. So I wrote another one, trying to make it more positive. Here are both for your critical examination.
