I know I said I wasn't going to allow remote recording devices in the #BirdingGear Feed but in the absence of a dedicated Feed, I'm sharing this post on the BirdWeather PUC device (see also comments). It's peaked my interest and I'd love to hear of more user experiences please.

My BWPUC gives me a 96% confident Yellow-browed Warbler that’s always a Starling. It’s getting tiresome 😩

Hard not to get a good Bluebird recording on the #BWPUC when they decide to come for a closer look 🙂BTW, I deliberately mount my BWPUC upside down, to avoid water running into the power inlet, and it seems to be working so far.

I knew this would be the case, but my #BWPUC batteries kept dying in the cold, so got a Blink power adapter (£8.99 Amazon) as suggested on the online community + quick start guide. Looking good so far 🤞

And it’s not just Merlin, the BirdWeather PUC is as buggy as hell (uses BirdNet). It really can’t handle Common Starling and Greylag Geese and my detections are littered with mis-IDs from these two species alone. At least #BWPUC allows me to feedback individual mis-IDs. But will it ever ‘learn’? 🪶
