I've gotten every one of these (except for the SIR EDWARD GREY: WITCHFINDER ones, because I just can't get into them), and they're FANTASTIC.
It puts everything in reading order, they're great value-per-page, they add value with all the backmatter stuff, and they look GREAT on a shelf!

This actually comes up in book publishing on occasion. Some trade titles do have ads in the backmatter; many ebooks do too, but I haven’t seen any that forcibly interrupt the middle. Yet.
you've just reached a crucial turning point in the novel you're reading. you turn the page and it unfolds into a full-color ad printed on die-cut glossy cardstock. it will not fold back down until the chip finishes playing the extremely loud audio track. the book, like all books now, cost you $150.
hear that? that's the sound of an ad exec trying to figure out how to insert pop-up–book pages into a binding, and how to make them unskippable

The vibrancy of the Bitch Planet letter columns and backmatter, which undoubtedly contributed to the commercial and critical success of the comic, proves that if you build it, they will come–the “it” being feminist spaces to talk comics, the “they” being feminists who love comics. 13/13

Sadly, most of the Bitch Planet backmatter isn’t available in collected editions or accessible online. Which is good and bad; the exclusivity of the content within monthly issues encouraged regular, active engagement but is less effective at sustaining community after the fact. 9/13

Fan entitlement can have some less-than-positive effects. But helping fans feel like they have a voice in the creative process is a powerful tool for building community and creating fan loyalty. The Bitch Planet letter columns and backmatter take these lessons to heart–with a feminist twist. 7/13
