Wonder in basic research changes human lives ✨

This is a small piece I did for @mblscience.bsky.social physiology course wonder project to show how wonder can change lives. I have never done any artwork like this, so I’m super proud of it

Critical research is not being funded. Even a short term delay will have permanent consequences, with some labs forced to shut down, scientists and support staff losing their job, and trainees - the future leaders of medical research - losing their lab & funding

My latest for American Scientist Magazine helps give scientists the tools to fight back against politicized charges that our research is silly or pointless- tools that will work whether you’re asked “why are we funding this” from your asshole uncle at Thanksgiving or an asshole US Senator.
