Look at his domestic politics, and you'd agree that Winston Churchill was an evil fuck too.
Yet that didn't prevent him from being an absolutely pivotal figure for good in the world in a way that should probably still be celebrated.

i have lefty friends who voted for Trump entirely on the theory that he'd challenge the "blob" and US security state, be a force for international peace. maybe so! maybe he's just speaking loudly and carrying a tiny stick. but the case is looking weaker than it did (and it never looked so strong).

the "good guys" literally starved 2 million Bengalis to death because they didn't deserve the food they grew but British troops did and then they displaced over 100 million people because they were mad that they couldn't rule them as kings anymore. There were no good guys in that war
Excellent point that besides the WHOLESALE slaughter of people in Eastern Europe in a war of extermination and the SYSTEMIC genocide of "social undesirables", the "good guys" embarked on massive relocation programs that, while smaller in scale, were horrific.
As a general thumb rule if you're picking a decade to point at and say "this happened back then so lets do it again" the 1940s are probably among the worst ones you could choose
