#OTD 147 years ago, Bedřich Hrozný (1879–1952) was born 🎉 An Indo-Europeanist and pioneer of Hittitology, he deciphered cuneiform tablets from Boğazkale, ancient Hattusa, during WWI and demonstrated that Hittite belongs to the Indo-European language family.

Speaking of #CoolRock Serpentinite, there was a ginormous 3ft square brilliant green block, found in the Temple Complex in the Cursed City of Ḫattuša (located in near Boğazkale, in the Çorum Province of Turkey) which was the capital of the Hittite Empire until it was destroyed in 1,200 B.C.
