"Long is the day and long is the night, and long is the waiting of Arawn."

Arawn - Welsh god of darkness, night and the underworld [Annwn] - is associated with the long, dark nights of autumn and winter.

Another stunning book cover, the dust jacket of the 1927 first edition of what I consider to be the best novel by A Merritt. Rare to see a jacket with so much solid black on it - quite an original composition. And look at that font, @brucearthursaz.bsky.social!
