Australia is transitioning from age-based to risk-based breast cancer screening, tailoring checks to individual factors like breast density, family history, genetic tests, and AI. While the BreastScreen program will phase in changes over ten years, current practices are limited to annual screenings for those with significant family histories. Breast density, a strong risk factor, is already communicated to patients, but challenges remain in accessing advanced imaging.
