Fascinating little bug ... about 5mm ... not confident about id but based on the excellent britishbugs help page I'm guessing it is an instar and possibly a juniper shieldbug Cyphostethus tristriatus

I suddenly remembered about these pics from last Sep taken in area of Crayford Marshes, Kent. I think it might be an adult Rambur's Pied Sheildbug (Tritomegas sexmaculatus) & late instar nymph, on Black Horehound. Does that look right please @BritishBugs?...

Buchananiella continua, a 2mm lyctocorid bug beaten from dead ash branch near Kildavin, Co. Carlow. Only added to the Irish list in 2019 and the 1st record outside of Co. Armagh. @BritishBugs #Heteroptera
