#BritishCore
my absolute favorite game to annoy my British girlfriend is to deliberately pronounce all nine hundred syllables of extremely Britishcore words like Worcestershire in my most American voice

she REALLY does not like it
I was fortunate enough to have someone Scottish unravel that one for me, but it came up in a discussion on names like Featherstonehaugh and Cholmondley.

For those done barfing over the fuck-awful Guardian piece about "Britishcore" (bleeurghh)... this is more like it!
100 experiences that define and unite modern Britons:
1. Going rollerskating at Linwood Sports Centre
2. The cat sitting on your 808 State poster
3. Caravan holiday in Ballycastle, you nutter.
4. Telling the WhatsApp group about your Mum's "Bretty C" (terminal breast cancer).
5. Waaaasssssupppp!

Happy first anniversary to the Guardian's finest ever ragebait listicle. A pure, triple-distilled teeth-itching irritant of 'Britain = the south of England' windup merchantry. Absolutely no notes, the greatest to ever do it
The rise of Britishcore: 100 experiences that define and unite modern Britons
Forget the pomp and pageantry. As people worldwide are now discovering, the UK was built on crisp sarnies, trips to B&Q and that age-old question: Corrie or EastEnders?

“Britishcore” should unfortunately result in execution

The rise of Britishcore, lols. My problem with this is it focuses on the twee and the comfortable: faded corduroy sofas and worn-out soap operas. But if our scrap of land has something unique to offer it's the muscles of dark folklore still twitching under the padded flesh of suburban respectability

Heard those hostile policy home office vans are being put back into service for people who don’t get 100/100 on the Britishcore article.

Strongly suspect that "100 Britishcore Things" article is actually the latest government ruse to stop people coming over in small boats.

The number one thing on any Britishcore list should be "Getting irritated at stupid articles in the Guardian that were only put there so you would share them on social media while irritated"

You check your phone. The guardian is talking about The rise of Britishcore.

You awake in a cold sweat. It is dawn, 14th October 1066. You are Harold Godwinson. You give an order to your thanes to withdraw and await support. The cursed future you foresaw must not come to pass.

I'm not saying that weird Guardian "Britishcore" listicle was written by AI, but if you told me that it was written by something with no actual experience being human, let alone British, then my monocle wouldn't fall out.

Sasha is thoroughly unimpressed with that “Britishcore” article. “What a right load of old shit. Was it a dog who commissioned it” he says.

That... That Guardian Britishcore article. Why... Why didn't any of you warn me
