I went in a few nights ago, very busy but was seen in under an hour. Great doc in cool scrubs, she and I had a laugh, she was thorough, I got a prescription to help my cough, off I went. $0.00 AUD

I had to go to a #Medicare Urgent Care Clinic late yesterday afternoon (my own GP clinic was about to close & lead times can be days/weeks).
I was triaged within 10 mins; wait time about 70mins. Great care & issue resolution by the team there.

Have the pushers for "send them rural" ever lived rural? No jobs. No infrastructure. No hospitals. No bulkbilling. No supports. Need a reliable car 2 get 2 the jobs b/c no public transport. Expensive. If housing was a human right not a wealth creation vehicle, there wouldn't be so many homeless.

(And I say she was good even though she wasn't bulkbilling me, when my last GP was. That's the sort of compromise we have to make as trans women - paying money we can't [or can barely] afford because it's better than dealing with medical gatekeeping.)

I like how our government created the “Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program” to incentivise universal bulkbilling and now a lot of clinics are going private :))))

I wish I could find a competent GP. After my marathon appt yest, I look at the referrals & scripts & am SMFH. One med is contraindicated, which they should have fucking known. One referral says both my parents had history of bowel cancer. No, no they didnt. Only bulkbilling clinic in town. So tired.
