Allogeneic CD19-targeting T cells for treatment-refractory systemic lupus erythematosus: a phase 1 trial - Nature Medicine
In a small trial of patients with severe systemic lupus erythematosus and nephritis, treatment with allogeneic T cells with a CD19 chimeric antigen receptor inserted into the T cell receptor locus and...

We've already seen remarkable results for lupus and other autoimmune diseases with CD19 B cell depletion therapy. Now add IgG4 related disease (which has no treatment) in a new randomized trial

Inebilizumab for Treatment of IgG4-Related Disease | NEJM
IgG4-related disease is a multiorgan, relapsing, fibroinflammatory, immune-mediated disorder with no approved therapy. Inebilizumab targets and depletes CD19+ B cells and may be effective for treat...

CD19 CAR T-Cell Therapy for Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia | NEJM
In patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), the risk of relapse is high owing to persistent autoreactive B-cell activity. Multirefractory AIHA is a more advanced stage of disease that is d...

Just a note of caution from someone who works in this field. We do not all agree that CD19 can distinguish long- from short-lived plasma cells. Here is just one of several studies showing it is not reliable as a marker.

2) The treatment trial is led by Carmen Scheibenbogen and will be a follow-up study to the randomized Phase II trial of the CD19 antibody inebilizumab.

Tafasitamab also targets CD19 but is less expensive, so they want to test if this also works in a subgroup of 38 patients.
