We’re decades into the CGI age, and practical effects are still the god standard for stuff that moves you.
The chatbots haven't gotten worse at impersonating humans, we've just gotten better at spotting the difference between a human and a bot, just as we got better at hearing the difference between a phonograph and a pianist.

CGI can be just as amazing as practical effects and rubber suits.

AI can't.
EXACTAMUNDO

It all rose up from model sets and flying crafts on strings and folks who literally bled and sweat to make that jazz happen.

There's serious effort in using CGI for those stories, characters, and sequences, but AI feels like a monstrously lazy slap in the face to all that history.
How do you even use AI in a genre that was born of tiny cities and rubber suits?? It's almost unconscionable.

You could write a history of reactionary thought that starts with Leo Strauss teaching Allan Bloom how to do esoteric readings of Plato and ends with Elon Musk failing to grasp the plain text of a 2000s CGI-heavy film trilogy for children
