Health organisations have issued new calls for community public access defibrillators (CPADs) to be placed in unlocked cabinets, with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) stating those locked with a code obtained via 999 “could create an additional barrier for deaf people”. Data available via The Circuit, the UK defibrillator network maintained by the charity, lists 122,432 defibrillators available nationally, of which almost a third (38,229, equivalent to around 31 per cent) have restricted access.
