Alex Pretti reminds me so much of an amazing CVICU nurse my dad had during one of his last hospital stays, a Marine veteran named Riley with a great mustache who treated my weary, terminally ill father with compassion and respect at a time when he desperately needed it.

When my dad was in the CVICU at OHSU in Portland earlier this year he had a fantastic nurse named Riley who had been a Marine aviation mechanic (Riley had an extraordinary mustache). I would bet my life that him keeping planes in the air did more for US military capacity than Hegseth's heroes.
You know what wins real wars against peer opponents? Warehouses full of bombs and bullets and tourniquets, maintenance crew to service the vehicles that move them and "warriors" to where they need to go, and boring spreadsheets to tell you how much of everything you have. Logistics! Logistics!
Hegseth: "Maximum lethality -- not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct. We're gonna raise up warriors. Not just defenders."

I resent having to actually look at a telemetry strip and measure a PR interval. What is this? A CVICU?

I was not a CVICU nurse when I first watched this show and so I did not fully grasp how deranged it is that Burke is letting Christina decannulate a heart by herself as an I N T E R N.

"Sinus pause" is the most CVICU nurse thing I've ever documented in a progress note now working in the NICU.

A normal preceptor: So this is a train of four device also known as a peripheral nerve stimulator. What do we use it for in the CVICU?

Me: ⚡️ *slapping the electrodes onto my own arm for a demonstration* ⚡️
