Greatest day of my career. While IT was freaking out back in the office, I was cluelessly floating on an air mattress in Canisbay Lake, enjoying a beautiful sunny day.

On this day in 2003, a blackout hit Ontario, and several US states.
The blackout left 10 million in Ontario without power for up to four days.
While American politicians blamed Canada initially, it was discovered the blackout was caused by a software bug in Ohio.

22 Years ago today I was floating on an inflatable raft, out in Canisbay Lake, watching clouds float overhead.

As the rest of the northeast descended into chaos. Or so I heard a few days later.

John O'Groats Distillery, West Canisbay, is advertised for sale with all of its stills, tuns and utensils. It first distilled in 1826, but would not reopen after its closure in 1837.
