Bemoaning the fact I don’t think I’ll ever get as lucky at the used books store as the time I found a first edition copy of Caudiciform & Pachycaul Succulents by Gordon Rowley for $9 😔

#caudiciform #Erythrina flabelliformis #native to #Tucson, AZ south into Mexico. I forgot and left this out in a 3" pot during its first winter here. It froze several times but survived.

Went to an absolutely insane plant sale at Rare Plant Research in Oregon City today, this is one of their greenhouse beds full of plant craziness. They’re still open, you should rush over immediately.

One of my weird caudiciform cucumbers - I think a kedrostis africana - is blooming for the first time! 🌱

Meet my expensive potato, Stephania! If you like weird caudiciform plants with adorable little Pikmin leaves, this is the plant for you. 🌱

(She wasn't that expensive, like $25 for a naked caudex)

My Fockea edulis in June 2025. This belongs to the #Apocynaceae family, so it's related to Hoya (wax flower) and Asclepias (milkweed). They're supposed to grow in the summer but this plant keeps insisting on growing in the winter.

Begonia dregei 'Tweedle Dee' from the National Cactus and Succulent Show. I couldn't resist trying this one. It's a caudiciform succulent Begonia. I've given it a prune already so I should have loads of cuttings too. #begonia #succulents #caudiciforms #plantsky #houseplants

I have 4 species . Difficult to see two others on this dull day in a pic. I love them. They start off with a caudiciform root like a large water holding ball just under the soil. Like a mallee gum?

This caudiciform succulent/climber is flowering. The flowers have the sweetest scent. It wil get a big feed today, flowering is 'expensive'. Also, why do I throw away the tags? I tell myself no-one likes a wanker, then regret it.
