do I like that nobody cared very much? no! I wish Dolores Huerta for example had a much bigger profile. but I think for a lot of young Chicanos Chavez was the "idk here's your perfunctory civil rights icon" figure

Especially for us chicanos, it matters. As my grandfather used to say: we didn’t come to United States. The United States came to us.
California native here. California used to be part of Mexico. Mexicans are an integral part of our community and state.
