Waiting for a train yesterday evening, sitting on the Canalside Green Steps at London's Coal Drop Yard, my wife noticed moths flitting around the ivy at the edge of the steps. I went over and found several pairs of the recent colonist Clepsis dumicolana (Banded Ivy Tortrix). #LondonMoths #TeamMoth

Trying to squeeze in a few more traps in before the year end and was surprised to find two #moths in the actinic this matin. A late Yellow-line Quaker and Clepsis consimilana (I think). In it to win it. #teammoth #norfolkmoths

Always stay alert… Walking past some ivy on a southeast London street. My subconscious discerns a micromoth fizzing. Turns out to be Clepsis dumicolana. Turns out there are a dozen. Relatively recent, ivy-feeding colonist. And new for me.

A first for me and a NFG. First found on the golden conifer in March and then collected as a pupa. Originally ObsID said Celypha lacunana but it has emerged as Clepsis spectrana the Cyclamen Tortrix, probably from the autumn/winter planters nearby. First time I’ve bred through a moth #teammoth

A few have asked for a garden total, and I’ve finally got a number! To the end of June 2025 it’s 713 in 2.5 years. In that are 2 Hants firsts (VCs 10,11 and 12), and a few rarities thrown in as well. Raspberry Clearwing + Clepsis Peritana (1sts), Striped Hawk-moth, Banded Pine Carpet #teammoth

Had just stashed my Mothing gear, when Mrs. Prof said: ‘there’s a Moth on my wardrobe.’

I potted it up quickly, as we were on our way out, just in case it was better than an LBAM.

It was.
