i am genuinely astonished by how this guy speaks exclusively in cliches
Hegseth: "President Trump holds the cards. He'll determine the pace, tempo, timing of this conflict. His hand firmly on the wheel as well as on the throttle setting ... today will be yet again the highest volume of strikes America has put over the skies of Iran and Tehran. Ramping up and only up."

Planes just falling out of the sky is like one of the top clichés for showing the collapse of infrastructure in apocalypse movies, too

i feel like we hate on cliches too much, and use the word cliche as an insult or a con in terms of writing but things are only cliche because they're good, they've only become cliches because people love them so much, i don't mind cliches if they're done well enough honestly

Cliches upon cliches

i mean, cliches become cliches for a reason! they work!

Researchers writing about their work frequently rely on clichés. Yet, little is known about how such clichés affect

Country music with a backbone, songs about real people, truth, and equality, not just marketing and clichés. This is the only kind worth listening to.

The highest compliment I can pay Jayden Daniels is he makes me say dumb football cliches like “he’s just a WINNER” when I watch him play

I guess it turns out that US leadership culture is nothing more than three insipid clichés in a trench coat.

Thought-germinating cliches

i think it is a solid sign of how fundamentally checked out bezos is from the actual state of american politics that he is mouthing the cliches of 20 years ago as if they are novel insights
This is absolute nonsense

i fell for all of the stupid woke cliches of 2020. now, in big 2026, i can safely say they were stupid cliches. am i falling for any stupid cliches right now? no, of course not, i have reflected

in every class I took in school with a writing component we were told to avoid cliches, but it turns out people really love cliches actually, you can become a wildly popular and successful writer by listing out the cliches on your book as marketing
you can speak in nothing but cliches all day

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.
Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

My mom had a bumper sticker that said "I SUPPORT MEANINGLESS JINGOISTIC CLICHES," so I didn't come from nowhere

what is fascinating to me is the number of people whose “knowledge” of government appears to just be an accumulation of cliches and stereotypes + an inchoate sense that if something is big and costly then it must necessarily be “wasteful”
Interesting piece which reveals a lot of the tech bro ignorance of government: DOGEr comes in, expects to find lots of inefficiency, is at least willing to acknowledge he was wrong unlike the hard core ideologues.

Rubio and Hegseth put out such big substitute-teacher energy today, catching themselves being bad cliches and realizing they had to just commit to it
Rubio: "They should check themselves before they wreck themselves"
