The California Transportation Commission has approved $1.1B to fund new zero-emission buses, charging stations, and other infrastructure and investments to make California communities safer and more climate resilient.

As Trump fails to upgrade America's infrastructure, California continues to lead.

Burning fossil fuels causes climate change, which makes fires and other disasters worse. The folks in California need disaster relief now. The only "conditions" that should be on any kind of assistance is that we build communities that are resilient to climate impacts & have zero-emissions buildings

Having worked at the Pentagon on climate change, most of the programming is intended to make US bases resilient to climate impacts. Many of them are quite vulnerable!

The combatant commands' work on climate was about how to prepare for the destabilizing impacts of climate in their regions.
Pete Hegseth tells reporters he welcomes Elon Musk and DOGE to the Pentagon, because there is waste that needs to be addressed. Like DOD climate programs.

"The Defense Dept is not in the business of climate change, solving the global thermostat. We're in the business of deterring and winning wars."

When I speak about climate justice folks often say “climate change affects everyone, no one can escape climate change even the wealthy” and that’s correct. But they have the resources to adapt and be resilient to it. It’s the ability to respond to disaster that is at the core of climate consequences
Many disabled folks rely on powered devices to keep them alive. The extreme heat of summer often causes power outages, which kills disabled people.

This is a downstream devastation of climate change - and why climate justice is so important.

It’s the marginalized who will suffer the most.
People with disabilities will often be impacted harder & faster by extreme weather events.

Check on the disabled people in your life. See if they have contingency plans and include them in emergency preparedness.

The last power outage nearly sent me to hospital 🧵

From Wildwood to Surf City, what kind of crises do NJ voters need to understand that climate science is not a liberal hoax, but climate denial and demonization of clean energy and resilient infrastructure are the most destructive conservative scams in history?

One of our “green new scam” research grants that USDOT terminated focused on making transit infrastructure more resilient to more frequent and severe weather events. But “climate change adaptation” was too woke, obviously, and doing this research is clearly unnecessary

In addition to making our cities climate resilient, we need to make our cities pandemic resilient.

This includes air quality monitoring and clean air infrastructure everywhere, providing free masks and tests, mixed-use zoning, remote work, outdoor public spaces, bike lanes etc.
