#Collegiality
What if a colleague uses your “collegiality” as a strategic tactic, like a pick on a basketball court, deliberately for advantage? Surely, the coin of collegiality has a flip-side obligation to behave in such a way that your colleague’s collegiality is never abused.

collegiality.

To rely on another’s “collegiality” to hide one’s own mischief isn’t fair play.

Their discretion, decorum and “collegiality” have limits — and should have limits. Truth and candor are also judicial virtues.

She has begun looking at interests, and motives, and connections. She’s begun to point behind the curtain at what “collegiality” obscures.

collegiality and "fit" are ways to cloak bias.
Collegiality is an explicit tenure requirement at a few schools, I’ve learned recently. Doesn’t seem to be helpfully defined anywhere though ….

There's that famous Collegiality™️ that is just SO characteristic of the Senate 🥰✨

as an outsider looking in, what this looks like to me is unscrupulous partisans leveraging norms of academic collegiality to do hack work, and then getting the vapors when people point out, correctly, that theirs is hack work
Whataboutism doesn’t work on me.

It’s refreshing to have a justice willing to set the performative collegiality aside and just state the bloody obvious.
This line from Ketanji Brown Jackson—that the Court's "objective is protecting guns"—is clearly right, but it's pretty unusual for justices to put sentiments like this in writing ballsandstrikes.org/ethics-accou...

lol woke up to people being mad because I said academics don’t owe practicing attorneys and elected officials a duty of collegiality, as if collegiality and decency are the same thing

True confession?

I came for collegiality but I stayed for the spelling

A sign of real brainrot for them to act like intellectual kapos and still expect collegiality from their colleagues literally under direct attack.

Chuck values collegiality more than our democracy.

“Mary Trump Slams Dem ‘Leadership Void’ — Too Worried About ‘Collegiality’ To Fight” Wanted to share a news story about my interview of Mary Trump that made press in Mediaite www.mediaite.com/media/news/m...
Mary Trump Slams Dem ‘Leadership Void’ — Too Worried About ‘Collegiality’ To Fight
Mary Trump said there's a "leadership void" among Democrats who are more worried about "collegiality" than in fighting back against President Donald Trump.

These are all unseemly things to discuss, indecorous, and not at all “collegial.” But if they are true, should they not be discussed? How much mischief happening in plain view in the courthouse should a justice ignore in the interest of “collegiality”?

Cue the “collegiality” bs when people push back.

"Always struggled to maintain collegiality" is some amazing HR-speak
The director of Project 2025, Paul Dans, did not resign as was generally reported, per RealClearPolitics: he was fired after an investigation found repeated professional misconduct and mistreatment of colleagues—particularly women. On his way out, he asked for $3.1 million payout (he didn't get it).

this is the kind of shit that needs to break Senate Collegiality

you simply cannot be friends and exchange grandkid pictures with people who turn around and go on national television to lie about how you only won because you cheated
Tuberville: "We probably have four or five senators that didn't legally win. They shouldn't be up here."

To every Dem Senator and Representative it’s time for you to drop your fucking collegiality with the GOP members.

They are enemies to The Constitution and the American people. They are not good or just. You need to accept this as fact.

They are enabling the destruction of our country.

Thoughts on collegiality. Collegiality means a shared responsibility grounded in camaraderie among colleagues. Lawyers, litigants, Members of Congress...aren’t my colleagues. Law/history/poli sci profs globally are. Academics working as scholars get good faith presumptions. That charity can be lost.

The collegiality of never calling out blatant lies is infuriating.

the idea of collegiality should be dead in a Senate where the vast majority of GOP senators have not condemned an assault on one of the body's own members
truly bleak that while Padilla was being tackled by Noem's goons, his Dem Senate colleagues were working with Republicans on a bill that would legalize Trump's crypto bribes and touch off a global financial crisis sooner or later prospect.org/politics/202...

I would like to see norms of academic collegiality evolve to the point where more law professors are comfortable publicly calling other professors brain-dead piece of shit hacks who need to shut the fuck up
