Fecal body odor undiagnosed
I had fecal body odor undiagnosed starting from 2009 until 2018 on and off. Then it somehow disappeared and now in 2026 came back.
The reason it disappeared is i followed gluten-free diet, i was never diagnosed with celiac even had a colonscopy and endoscopy in 2019 (not sure if sample was taken and tested for celeac though) but i was told i had h.pylori and given antibiotics.
I recently changed city and live in shared-accomodation since past 7 months, now my symptoms seems to pop up again, I live and cook with another person, the person knows I eat gluten free but i wasn't so strict and there might be some gluten slipping in, since i never thought smell would return, also my bowel movement has been recently upto 5 to 10 times a day, Incomplete Bowel Movements and since long didn't have one long satisfying bowel movements, seems its like its coming in installments, worse than that the smell has returned.
Went to dr, he said to do colonscopy and endoscopy, i am right now going to classes if i start taking gluten it makes things even worse i assume. So i postpone that but posting here to understand what the hell this condition is.
Recently i got shreddies underwear and it helps, so i assume its not TMAU or from breathing or sweat. Does celiac cause such a thing?
Btw I was visiting drs through out the years, and diagnosis i got, hemorrhoid (then in colonsopy nothing showed up), IBS, stress, charles darwin problem, hpylori, "it's all in the mind" syndrome, gut-mind issue, visit psychiatrist (they think its my mind, which clearly is a bodily function problem as others can smell too its not just me) and among other diagnosis something makes me think some drs are really incompetent and just want an easy answer instead of really investigating the actual cause.
Anyways, I am back to same problem and disparately need a solution. It really affects quality of life.
I am 31 years old, not taking any medications, 76 kg.
More info: i always maintain good hygiene showered daily, clean well and with wet tissues /water, to ensure no residue. And throughout years it affected quality of life college and later working life, as i had to be in isolation as there was literally nothing i could do to stop it. I do not pass gas and the odor still persists.
Other symptoms i had before i went completely gluten free, bloated, porous teeth, chest rash, when breathing sometimes sharp striking pain in back (very rare) and lots of mucus in stool and brain fog, not sure if it was due to smell anxiety or a general symptom.
