I think I will make a video to explain all the things I've found about that "pre-commercial era" thing, cause it's a fun topic. But also because I believe that the japanese "Computopia" concept is widely unknown, or misunderstood.

One of the important figures in the creation of computer games in the 1960s was Ikeda Toshio.A well-known figure of the JP computing revolution and a Go enthusiast, and one of the contributors to the Computopia project at Fujitsû. He also wrote several articles on the modeling of games on computers

At Expo ’70 in Ôsaka, in the Furukawa Pavilion, Fujitsû presented their "Computopia" attractions. It included, amongst other things, two computer-based games: the famous train driving test, and a "simplified" version of the game of Go.

During the video we made a year ago with Florent Gorges and @adoru.bsky.social , the latter wondered whether the Fujitsû Computopia project team had been aware of Zobrist’s work on the game of Go—and the answer is yes, as indicated by Ikeda’s articles. Though the Zobrist's view was different.

I suppose there would be more chances to find something on the NHK or Fujitsû archives sides. There was also a short film made by Haneda Sumiko about the "Computopia" aspects of the expo, but I haven't seen it.
