I think this is the point. If you look at the Regina data centre. Councillors resigned. To give the municipality quorum the province appointed councillors and rammed the data centre through, and had shovels ready to go.

If only Halifax ever had councillors with this kind of attitude whenever the province does something to reverse decisions that were made by the city.
Local autonomy is a vital check on centralized political power.
The province may have the legal authority to overrule municipalities, but legal power is not a democratic mandate.
My initial thoughts on the Province’s recent directive ordering the City to reverse course on our land use bylaw.
